Abstract
OBJECTIVES: Endometrial cancer is the third most common cancer in women in Slovakia. Surgical treatment is one of the basic therapeutic and diagnostic procedures in its management.
METHODOLOGY: Based on the processing of the latest data from the scientific literature, the authors reassessed the pattern of current knowledge and expanded it in the field of study.
RESULTS: As the development of technical and medical knowledge has advanced, so has the view of the surgical approach in the treatment of this disease. In the past, laparotomy hysterectomy with pelvic and paraaortic lymphadenectomy dominated. Gradually, works using laparoscopy appeared. The oncological safety of these procedures has been confirmed, retaining all the benefits of the mini-invasive approach. In recent years, robotic surgery has also been used successfully in the treatment of endometrial cancer.
CONCLUSION: Undoubted advantages include a shorter learning curve compared to conventional laparoscopy, the possibility of using the most modern surgical equipment. This increases the availability of medical care while maintaining the current recommended practices of individual professional societies (Fig. 6, Ref. 17). Text v PDF www.lekarskyobzor.sk.
